McCain Can’t Promise Change McCain keeps contending that Obama is running a negative campaign, but it is McCain who is negative. He continuously accuses Obama of failings, but does not offer any real concrete solutions to America’s problems. His primary campaign tactic is, in effect, to point his finger at Obama in order to direct attention away from himself --- and George Bush and his cronies. His accusations during the final debate with Obama were weak and his arguments thin. And his impression is increasingly that of a very worried and desperate man. The primary issue in this election is the total failure of the Bush presidency and no Republican is going to affect change from within the party. Obama parried the accusations with facts in a mannerly and intelligent way; logically and persuasively. Overall, he seems the obvious choice between the two, especially on the topics covered in this debate. The candidates may differ somewhat on some issues, but they both recognize the Need for Change. McCain won’t be able to change America – he probably wouldn’t even be able to change his own party if he were elected president. They’re the ones who caused this – and they’re not going to happily relinquish their power. His empty promises to correct the travesties of George Bush and the Republican Party over the past eight years are actually making Obama’s case --- he is espousing his opponent’s cause. Affecting Real Change and Restoring America will be one of the greatest challenges ever faced by any world leader. At a time when the economies of the world are in turmoil and war and terrorism threaten our very safety, this country needs a leader with enough vision to take control and guide us into a prosperous future. A life like the one before George Bush would do, but something even better would be nice. World peace comes to mind, and a complete abandonment of George Bush's policies of greed for the rich and continuous war. It is now apparent, at this crucial point in history, that Barrack Obama is America’s only choice. We now need to join together and Vote for Obama. And to enthusiastically support him in his efforts as president of the United States to change the course of America; and lead us into a brighter future. Give McCain a chance to show the world how he and other Republicans can demonstrate their ability to work together, and with the rest of Congress, to affect real change during Obama’s first term. And let one among them show himself to be a real leader, one capable of taking over the challenge in 2012 if Obama fails. Dave Satre
