Is the Nut Cracking?
President Showing Signs of Pressure

GW Bush, the great decision maker, seems to be losing his grip. The man is unstable and unable to handle criticism of any kind, but the whole world, including his insiders, seems to be turning against him as he faces the greatest crisis of his life. Psychiatrist Justin Frank claims in his book, Bush On the Couch, that the president is a paranoid schizophrenic, is delusional and occasionally exhibits psychotic behavior. This is apparently one of those times.

Bush actually believes he is “chosen” and that God speaks to him. He believes that when he gets an idea he is always right, and he wants people to believe him despite all evidence to the contrary. He actually believes he is above the law and that he should be able to do whatever he wants. He claimed that God told him to invade Iraq, which seems highly questionable, since the Pope, who also speaks to God, has related an entirely different message.

Bush likes to claim that he is a great decision maker. He is fixated on making decisions. He sees this as his main job. He hardly ever makes a comment to the press that doesn’t include the term decision.

The truth is, he never actually makes decisions. His people do the research and tell him what to think. He's incapable of rational decisions and the mere idea that this man is making decisions that involve the good of this country and its people is petrifying.

Frank believes Bush’s problems are the results of his fundamentalist religious beliefs, a strained relationship with his father and problems with alcoholism and drug addiction.

Bush never had the intelligence, experience or background needed to handle the job of president. It’s questionable if he can handle any real job. He was elected president only because he has led a life of special privilege as a member of a wealthy and politically powerful family.

Bush actually believes he is “chosen” and that God speaks to him. He believes that when he gets an idea he is always right, and he wants people to believe him despite all evidence to the contrary.

He never earned a single thing for himself, including his acceptance to prestigious schools despite his pitiful scholastic record and business opportunities that were offered to him by his family and their connections. His political career has been the result of Karl Rove’s expertise, which is basically an amoral policy of lying, saying whatever the people want to hear in order to get elected and vicious personal attacks against opponents and critics.

Faced with monumental criticism and popularity polls that are dropping through the hull of the sinking ship, Bush is unable to admit a mistake and loathe to change a decision. He simply can’t handle it. He is visibly upset with the Iraq Council’s report on his mistakes in taking the country to war and is stonewalling his expected decision on a new strategy for Iraq. The man is simply putting off the inevitable -- he has enjoyed his “Stay the Course” policy, it sounded tough and confident. But, most of all, he doesn’t want to leave Iraq without Victory. It’s more about “him” than Iraq, its people, or America.

He naively expected things to turn out well in Iraq. Things have always gone well for him in the past. He definitely does not want to go down in history as a loser and the worst president in American history. He should have thought of that before he ran for the office. But, then, he didn’t know any better. He made a bad decision.

He was elected president only because he has led a life of special privilege as a member of a wealthy and politically powerful family.

Reports from within the White House tell of an administration in turmoil, torn from within by dissension over a failed Iraq war policy that got them into this mess. They seem in favor of following the Study Group’s recommendations, at least that would put much of the blame on them if the plan fails.

Insiders say the president has grown moody and paranoid. He is accusing critics, including those in his party and his cronies, of being traitors.

His administration is unable to provide him with an honorable way out of the mess they have caused and Bush can’t handle the humiliation.

Bush feels betrayed by James Baker, who was the man who handled the situation in Florida in the 2000 election and put him in office. Baker has been called to Washington to save Bush again, but GW is unhappy with his participation in the Iraq Study Group’s report, which is contrary to his own beliefs and places the blame on him.

Bush can’t face losing and admitting defeat. Publicly, GW says he is waiting for reports from the National Security Council, State Department and the Pentagon before making his decision.

Bush's decision to delay the announcement of his new Iraq policy until next year is simply a stalling tactic. Insiders say he has no intention of following the plan offered by the Iraq Study Group. The president has already made up his mind and is in no hurry because he doesn't plan to make any major changes. Bush reportedly says, "I'm the President. I'm the one who decides what's best for this country."

This man should not be making any decisions affecting the lives of Americans and Iraqis. He is embarrassingly inept and he should be impeached and removed from office while there’s still a chance for America to recover from this disastrous presidency.

Do we dare hope for a Democratic Party strong enough in 2007 to spearhead his removal from office?
